This is true most of the times, they have what is called a ‘righting reflex’, whereby they’re able to twist around very quickly in the air when falling. They also have very flexible backbones, which help them in doing this. But this is not always the case. Almost every day we get reports of cats which have fallen from heights, often out of windows/balconies. Some make a recovery, but, lots don’t. We strongly recommend fixing mesh to windows and netting the balconies to prevent cats from falling out.
