Although a cat can be neutered/spayed at any age, it is best and recommended to neuter/spay the kittens before they reach puberty. This is around 4-5th month for male and 6th month for females. If a cat has just given birth to a litter, it is a good idea to wait for 8 weeks before spaying her. A cat that has been neutered as an adult may not have any behavioural advantages(aggression if any might still continue), but will definitely have health benefits.
